Forklifts are divided into electric forklifts and internal combustion forklifts according to the power unit.
Electric forklifts mostly use direct current (DC) motors, whose mechanical characteristics meet the low-speed and high-torque work requirements of forklifts.
The advantages of electric forklifts are: simple operation, easy maintenance, smooth operation, no noise, no exhaust gas, no air pollution, lower operating costs, and a longer service life of the entire vehicle.
The electric forklift standard voltage is 24V, 30V, 48V, 72V, 80V.
Most of the electric forklift’s current is 48V, which is also the working voltage of the motor, but the voltage of other electrical components is generally 12V, which needs the dc-dc converter, such as horns, headlights, etc. If the customer wants to add GPS tracker, monitor, camera etc electronic equipment, these equipment have different voltage requirements, some is DC5V or DC12V, so it need the DC-DC converter.
We recommend that you can use a wide voltage dc converter, 30-90V to 12V, 30-90V to 5V (for forklifts of 24V, 30V, 48V, 72V), it has plastic shell (size 58*40.5*22mm) or aluminum shell (size is 74*74*32mm), both with screw holes, easy to install and small size, with the waterproof function. Ensure that the machine is working properly.
Please noted: 30-90V dc converter cannot be used on 80V vehicles, because the peak voltage of the 80V forklift can reach up to 104V. It will burn the converter, so it needs to use 40-135V to 12V dc converter, but the size is 126*53*36mm, you should consider the space during installation.
How to choice the DC converter?
For example, monitors and cameras require 12V voltage and 3A current, which requires 30-90V to 12V 5A, because the converter cannot be overloaded for a long time, it will reduce the life cycle. Normally, the 30 -90V to 12V 5A supports long-term work below 4A current(About 80% of the power). For the same reason, if the device requires 12V voltage and 5A current, you can use a 30-90V to 12V 8A or 10A converter, to ensure the long-term working of the machine.
For customers who need to install GPS tracker, please note that the GPS TRACKER works 24 hours all the day, you should consider if the battery of the forklift will be exhausted. It is better to check the forklift if has the function of undervoltage protection to prevent electric forklifts. Prevent the battery is over-discharged.
